Launched October 2022. For individuals who work remotely for employers or clients based outside Portugal and wish to establish long-term residency. One of the first EU countries to formalize a dedicated digital nomad residency visa. Qualifying income must be active (employment or freelancing), not passive. Both employed and self-employed workers qualify.

Spouse/partner and dependent children eligible for family reunification residency visa; each pays EUR 90 national visa fee; AIMA EUR 232 per family member
